Jinko’s answer to energy-dense industry and utility-scale solar module designs from 2021 takes an interesting form in the Tiger Pro HC range. A P-Type monocrystalline solar module comprising Jinko’s new 182mm wafer, designed larger for a better Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). Yet, selected models may still possess Residential appeal.
Model:
Jinko Tiger Pro HC (Half-Cell).
Variants:
54HC; 395 / 400 / 405 / 410 / 415 W.
60HC; 440 / 445 / 450 / 455 / 460 W.
72HC; 530 / 535 / 540 / 545 / 550 W.
72HC-TV (Bifacial); 525 / 530 / 535 / 540/ 545 W.
TLDR:
Adopting a larger cell design, the Jinko Tiger Pro HC finds its place in the Jinko range as a high power density Industry or Utility-scale solar module design. The increased weight range in the traditional format in nomination by cell size (60-cell) may not be ideal for residential projects due to the redesigned wafer size. An overall Superior solar module for the manufacturers intended purpose.
The following detailed product analysis for the Jinko Tiger Pro should be used as a guide only. Individual circumstances and compatibilities must always be considered when selecting the ideal solar module. This content comprises the Solar Analytica Assessment Criteria (solar modules) based on available product specifications at compilation (refer to post date).
1. Design: 74/100
A Very Good, bordering Superior design profile, the Jinko Tiger Pro’s defining aspect is the increased cell size. No longer can we assume that common format 60-cell (120 half-cell) or 72-cell (144 half-cell) solar modules are equal as increased cell sizes directly impact module dimensions considerably.
Comprised of Jinko’s new generation 182mm/ 7.1″ cell (compared to alternative Jinko cell sizes 163mm/6.4inch), the height, width and weight dimensions of the Jinko Tiger Pro are significantly larger in all formats. Despite a noticeable increase in power output per module/cell category, such should not be considered an improvement in power density.

3. Efficiency: 76/100
Even though the power output of the Jinko Tiger Pro HC can be a little deceiving based on cell quantity, the Efficiency as a whole is without a doubt Superior. Including NOCT power density, the Jinko Tiger Pro HC range potions itself among the upper ranks of module efficiency.
Yes, fewer modules are required to fulfil the desired system size; however, the surface area needed to achieve the system power output would be similar to a system comprising more reduced Watt yet identical efficiency modules. An example of such can be seen when comparing the Jinko Tiger N-Type 60TR vs the Jinko Tiger Pro 60HC.
Although repeated, this perspective is essential to understand when considering larger cell dimension modules to ensure an informed selection process as confusion often surrounds such comparisons.

4. PERFORMANCE: 80/100
The Jinko Tiger Pro HC, as with all Jinko solar modules, excels in the sub-category of “Performance guarantee assurance”. An ideal accompaniment should the first year degradation fall below 2% or the Annual degradation fall below 0.55% per annum over the following 24-years, Jinko shall take the required responsibility with no unforeseeable expenses so long as the warranty guidelines have adhered.

5. Guarantee: 78/100
Recently many manufacturers have begun defining residential vs industry/utility-scale modules by guarantee period. Within the Jinko Tiger Pro range, such definition is evident. A lengthened 15-year product guarantee supports the Tiger Pro 54HC. While all other Tiger Pro modules 60HC, 72HC and 72HC-TV are accompanied by the Jinko standard 12-year guarantee.
The 12 and 15-year guarantee periods remain just one element to ensure an overall Elite Guarantee classification for the Jinko Tiger Pro HC range. Beyond the Guarantee period, compelling alternative aspects of the Guarantee category are the latest Jinko bankability ratings per PV Moduletech ratings (AA, Q2 2021). Further strengthening these qualities, as in the previous Performance category, is Jinko’s Outstanding product Guarantee assurance.

Overall: 78/100
It’s easy to understand potential confusion surrounding modules of different cell dimensions. Nonetheless, we must become accustomed to looking beyond general module classifications such as cell quantity for general solar panel comparisons. That’s where, in the absence of a data sheet value, a solar module power density calculator can be a convenient tool.
As in the Jinko Tiger Pro HC, the new normal is varied module sizes based on proprietory cell technology as manufacturers seek to outclass their competition through distinct qualities. The Jinko Tiger Pro HC, due to a weight range from 22 kg/48.5lb to 28kg/61.7lb, is primarily designed for Industry and Utility-scale projects boasting an overall Superior product suite.
