A significant contributor to their success, the chef focuses on targeted products that a large, diverse volume of people will love and channel their energy into delivering something exceptional. As the world’s largest solar module manufacturer by volume, LONGi has the smallest product offering compared to alternative Silicon Module Super League manufacturers. Focused on set specifications that appeal to a large market cross-section, the LONGi solar panels available in 2022 are a limited range when compared to similar large volume manufacturers yet provide superior value for the discerning investor.

Despite eight listed LONGi solar panels available on the LONGi global website, six datasheets are present (at the time of writing) that are more likely reflective of the current range.

Unlike alternative large volume solar module manufacturers, the LONGi range is easy to navigate. In 2022 three core LONGi solar panels exist. The residential and industry targeted Hi-MO 4 range, an ultra-large-scale Hi-MO 5 range, and the yet to be released Hi-MO N, which will likely provide high power density from residential to utility-scale options.

An inspiring simplification of an overall product offering from the world’s largest solar module manufacturer (by volume) suggests that the current range of LONGi solar panels, in general, resonate with diverse global module purchasers. One can only consider this a finely tuned recipe for success by possessing such a limited range while moving a remarkable 50,000 MW/year capacity (Q4, 2021 Bloomberg NEF).

Enhanced through refinement to a proven solar module design that is further complemented by superior Durability and Guarantee characteristics, while developed by one of the biggest names in recent module manufacturing history. The Hi-MO 4 range of LONGi solar panels offer four unique variants ideal for specific project types.

Residential purchasers are more likely to take advantage of either the LR4-60HPH or the 66HPH models. With no difference in power density, the 66HPH simply increases its overall dimensions by adding another row of cells to achieve the higher Watt-class (405-425W). Both, at peak specification, are equal to each other, and each module type will serve a best-suited purpose depending on the overall system design.

Meanwhile, large project developers will seek to exploit the benefits of two 72-cell (144 half-cell) module formats. Flat to roof-mounted solar arrays have no real need for bifacial qualities. In this instance, the 72HPH will often take precedent. Tilted solar arrays intended for installation in highly reflective environments can harness the potential power boost and extended performance warranty proven successful in glass-glass bifacial type solar panels available in the 72HPD.

2. Hi-MO 5: 76/100

The InterSolar Award-winning solar module of 2021 is a quintessential example of high power density with refined attributes and what can be considered a superior module for large scale project developers. In a similar fashion to the HiMO-4, the HiMO-5 range of LONGi solar panels emanate financier and buyer confidence through the ability to produce a well rounded solar module meticulously well in ultra-high volume.

Two HiMO-5 solar module types incorporate an almost gapless cell design with an increased 182mm wafer size, improving module power density slightly compared to the Hi-MO-4 range. Monofacial 72HPH Hi-MO 5 solar panels possess a slight edge in power density over their bifacial counterparts. However, if a likely tilted array is present for the installation of ultra-large-scale projects, the bifacial qualities within the LR5-72HPD Hi-MO 5 variant would be a worthy consideration depending on the environment.

3. Hi-MO N

With no datasheet avaialble on the LONGi website yet, expect the specifications of the HiMO-N range of LONGi Solar panels to be released prior to Intersolar Europe 2022 (May 11-13). The next generation of N-Type monocrystalline TOPCon module technology improves efficiency and performance to what will be considered the new expectation in high-performance module design.
