Standards
Western Australia's 2026-27 State Budget commits $17.8 million to solar panel and embedded battery recycling, announced 3 June 2026. The Commonwealth's $24.7 million recycling pilot, meant to establish the same costs nationally, had not completed procurement for an administrator as at 17 August 2026. No stewardship scheme exists at either level.
SWIS policy
Synergy opened expressions of interest for the first Third Party Aggregator Panel on 24 August 2026, open for four weeks. Under the Electricity System and Market Rules it is the only party permitted to submit services involving a non-contestable customer, so the panel is the precondition for anyone else reaching those services with household assets. Membership is permission to bid, not a contract.

The Clean Energy Council is moving its approved battery list to SA TS 5398. Reading the regulator's published file finds 2,947 of 3,526 listings on a single expiry date, 31 December 2027, and none beyond it. What expiry governs, what it does not, and the one indicator that shows the migration.
